Promoting local development and decentralization in line with the Sustainable Development Goals is an area of expertise for Al Hayat-RASED. The center was one of the first institutions to work in this field with the assistance of the Ministries of Interior and Political Affairs The center also worked to increase community awareness on decentralization and municipalities roles in all governorates, and encouraged local authorities to adhere to international standards and build capacities of local councils members, with a focus on enhancing the role of women in local governance. The center aims to provide technical assistance to local councils to enhance their performance by showing them new ways to overcome challenges and deal with citizens.
Over the next three years, Al Hayat - RASED seeks to
- Improve work on promoting local development, through technical assistance to local councils to enhance their performance by showing them new ways to overcome challenges and engage with citizens
- Increase the number of projects and programs directly contributing to achieving this goal, such as monitoring the performance of the elected councils in the kingdom’s governorates and issuing performance evaluation cards for the municipalities.
